Bulldogs to Play Non-Conference Home-and-Home Series with Cameron

Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Baseball (3-0) will play Cameron in a home-and-home doubleheader series, first at home on Friday starting at noon (second game to follow) and then again on Saturday in Lawton starting at noon (second game to follow)
- The Bulldogs are coming off of a 3-2 victory over in-state foe Central Oklahoma on Wednesday  
-  Last season SWOSU was victorious in the only meeting over CU by a score of 4-2 after an early 2-0 deficit was overcome by four RBI singles that spanned over innings three through six  
- In SWOSU's Division II era, Cameron leads the all-time series 36-23 against the Dawgs as well as leads the series 6-3 since Zack Saunders became head coach dating back to 2012
 
The Opponent
Cameron (4-0)
- The Aggies were tabbed for a fifth place finish in the annual Lone Star Conference preseason coaches poll, a year after finishing in fourth place
- CU went 31-21 last season which included an 11-game winning streak to begin the season
- Currently in 2017, Cameron is 4-0 after sweeping a home-and-home series against Southern Nazarene heading into their series with SWOSU
- The Aggies batted .308 as a squad offensively in their series against SNU and on the mound are holding a 3.60 team earned run average   

 The Coaches
SWOSU: Zack Saunders (139-102, 6th season)
- Two-time Great American Conference Coach of the Year, winning the award in 2013 and 2016
- Inducted into the Muskogee Athletic Hall of Fame on October 13, 2016
- Earned his 100th career victory at SWOSU against Northwestern Oklahoma State on April 24, 2015
- Previously served as an assistant at SWOSU for six seasons under former Bulldog coaches Charles Teasley and Scott Selby
- Played collegiately at Kansas State following two seasons at Connors State playing on nationally-ranked junior college teams
 
Cameron: Brady Huston (50-50, 3rd season)
-  Huston in his first season as head coach had the Lone Star Conference Freshman of the Year and three All-LSC postseason selections
- The Aggies surged in year two under Huston and opened the season on an eleven game winning streak and climbed up to No. 10 in the National Polls, making a postseason run and ending the season with 10 All-LSC selections and a regional ranking
- Huston comes from Seminole State College where he was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator from 2011-2013, recording a 120-49 record. During that span, Huston had 11 players drafted including 8 pitchers with only one being drafted out of high school

SWOSU Notes
- SWOSU has won its first three games of the season for the first time since 2013, a team that started 5-0 and went on to finish 31-16 overall
- The Bulldogs have given up only three earned runs in the opening three games of the season, with no pitcher having more than one to his credit
- On the mound, SWOSU is holding opponents to a .146 batting average through the first three games of the season
- Offensively, as a squad, the Dawgs are batting .272 led by Jason Nichols with a .455 batting average and Ruben Rodriguez with a .417 BA
- SWOSU's home runs are held by Joel Baxley, Rogelio Sanchez and Rafael Otero each with one
- Rodriguez and Nichols are the only two hitters with multiple extra-base hits, each with two doubles so far this year
- Preseason All-Region selection Quintin Dougherty picked up his first save of the season against UCO, pitching a flawless ninth to preserve the 3-2 lead
- No crooked numbers have shown up on the scoreboard for opponents yet this season, as the Dawgs have given up one run in each the second, third, sixth and seventh innings

Looking Ahead
- The Bulldogs will focus next on Great American Conference play, when they welcome Arkansas Tech to Weatherford for a three-game series starting Friday, Feb. 17 with a single nine-inning game followed by a double-header on Saturday beginning at noon
