WEATHERFORD, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball returns to conference action on Tuesday on the road with a pivotal matchup against Southern Nazarene with conference standing positioning on the line.
Both teams come into the matchup with an even 7-7 record in GAC play and in a three-way tie with Southeastern for sixth place with two games remaining on the regular season schedule. SWOSU, has already clinched their spot in the postseason tournament while Southern Nazarene can do so with a combination of outcomes around the league – but none easier than with a win over the Bulldogs.
The two teams first met back on September 21st in Weatherford in a match won by the Crimson Storm. SWOSU jumped out to a 1-0 lead over SNU with a dominant 25-12 opening set, but Southern Nazarene went on to collect three extremely close set victories in a row at 25-20, 25-
23 and 25-23 to claim the match.
Because of the previous loss to SNU earlier in the season, a Bulldog win over them on Tuesday will allow for tiebreakers to come into play when deciding the seeding for the conference tournament. A loss to SNU will mean the Bulldogs will inevitably fall behind the Crimson Storm in the standings for the conclusion of the regular season regardless of the rest of the season's outcomes.
Sophomore libero
Kaitlyn Dillon will be on record watch coming into Tuesday, needing 14 digs to tie and 15 to pass SWOSU's single season digs mark of 643 set by Sladjana Smiljanic in 2011.
SWOSU (12-18, 7-7 GAC) has lost its last three contests to the Crimson Storm coming into Tuesday and will look to break that streak with a much needed victory. First serve is set for 7 pm from Bethany, inside the Sawyer Center.
