Both SWOSU Golf Teams Chosen for NCAA Regional Competition

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – While the SWOSU Men's and Women's Golf teams were in Arkansas competing at the Great American Conference Championships, both teams were selected to compete in the NCAA Division II postseason.

"A lot of our mindset is to get into postseason play and I'm proud of our teams because both have now qualified for regional play in each of the past four years," said SWOSU Head Coach Brad Fleetwood, who directs both the men's and women's golf teams. "Advancing to the regional is a culmination of the whole year and I know our players are really focused and confident heading into the tournament. With that said, it's going to take really good play over the course of three straight rounds if we want to advance to the national championships."

The Lady Bulldogs will travel to Axtel, Nebraska, for the Central Regional, which will be hosted by Nebraska-Kearney on May 2-4. The super regional will consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently with twelve teams and six individuals from non-qualifying teams at the site. All participants will compete throughout the 54 holes of competition and the top three teams along with the top three individuals not with a team will advance to the championships.

The 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships will be held May 18-21 at Common Ground Golf Course in Aurora, Colorado. The championships will be part of the 2016 NCAA Division II Championships Festival with Metro State and the Denver Sports Commission serving as hosts.
