Setting the Stage
- The defending Central Region Champions are coming to Weatherford this weekend as SWOSU Baseball (18-10, 10-5 GAC) hosts Henderson State for a three-game series
- SWOSU is coming off a victory over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, but they are looking to rebound from their first GAC series defeat of the season that came last weekend against Oklahoma Baptist
- Henderson State has the same number of conference victories as the Dawgs, but they have eight losses with an extra series to their credit
 
The Opponent
Henderson State (15-17, 10-8 GAC)
- Coming off a midweek victory over Delta State and a series win against Southern Arkansas last weekend in Arkadelphia
- Have won three of their five GAC series this year with setbacks against Arkansas-Monticello (3-0) and Southeastern Oklahoma State (2-1)
- Ranked fourth in the GAC in pitching with a team ERA of 4.40 and 215 strikeouts, but the Reddies are the lowest-hitting team in the conference with a .246 batting average

SWOSU: Zack Saunders (120-95, 5th season)
- Has led the Bulldogs to three winning seasons and he's led the team to the GAC Tournament on three occasions while tutoring 16 all-conference players
- Earned his 100th career victory at SWOSU against Northwestern Oklahoma State on April 24, 2015
 
Henderson State: Cody Hooten (131-149-1, 6th season)
- In his sixth season as the head coach at HSU after serving three years as an assistant coach for the Reddies
- Led the Reddies to their first-ever NCAA postseason appearance last season, advancing all the way to the NCAA Division II World Series
 
SWOSU Notes
- SWOSU enters the weekend in third place in the Great American Conference standings, two games behind Arkansas-Monticello for first and just ahead of Southern Arkansas and Southeastern
- Joshua Santos had three RBI in the Bulldogs win over Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday, his team-leading 10th multiple RBI game of the season
- Jacob Spring brings a season-best eight-game hitting streak into the series with Henderson State, the longest current streak on the team
- Gunnar Cook tossed his first complete game of the season last weekend against Oklahoma Baptist and he struck out 10  batters for the second time in his past three starts

- Non-conference action takes the Bulldogs to Oklahoma City on Tuesday for a matchup with the OCU Stars before staying on the road next weekend for a series with Ouachita Baptist
