Setting the Stage
- SWOSU Baseball heads to Chickasha on Monday to complete a home-and-home series against the University of Science & Arts of Oklahoma (USAO) at 4:00 pm
- Both teams enter the game with momentum as SWOSU has won their last five contests while USAO is 7-1 since suffering a 7-5 defeat in Weatherford on March 1st
 
The Opponent
Science & Arts of Oklahoma (21-6)
- An NAIA school in Chickasha, the Drovers enter the week with a 21-6 record and three of their defeats have come against NCAA Division II schools
- Ranked third nationally in NAIA by holding opponents to a .198 batting average while the Drovers are hitting .336 themselves with 26 home runs and 197 runs scored
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Zack Saunders (118-92, 5th season)
- Has led the Bulldogs to three winning seasons and he's led the team to the GAC Tournament on three occasions while tutoring 16 all-conference players
- Earned his 100th career victory at SWOSU against Northwestern Oklahoma State on April 24, 2015
 
Science & Arts: Mike Ross (241-144, 8th season)
- Has been at USAO since 2005 and the head coach of the baseball team since 2009 and he's led the Drovers to 25 wins or more in each season
 
SWOSU Notes
- SWOSU is 4-1 in their midweek, non-conference games this season and they've scored at least seven runs in each of those contests
- Austin Hilton has made three midweek starts with a 1-0 record and 1.74 ERA in 10.1 innings of work while Ben Schweinfurth is 2-0 with a 2.45 ERA in five appearances – two starts – on Tuesday games
- As a team, the Bulldogs are hitting .307 in the midweek with five regulars in the lineup hitting .400 or better, led by Joel Baxley at .417
