Setting the Scene
- SWOSU Men's Basketball will take a two-game winning streak to Goodwell, Okla., on Sunday afternoon for a meeting with Panhandle State
- The Bulldogs look to end the semester on a high with a game that will be the Bulldogs final contest before the holiday break
- Last season, Panhandle State defeated the Bulldogs 76-65 in Weatherford, snapping an eight-game SWOSU winning streak in the series that covers the schools entire NCAA Division II era
- SWOSU is 4-0 against the Aggies in games played in Goodwell since 1999 and 8-1 overall in the series, including a 67-63 win in Edmond during the 2010-11 season
- Panhandle State enters the contest on a three-game winning streak in regular season games, most recently defeating Manhattan Christian College on Wednesday evening
 
The Opponent
Panhandle State (5-2)
- OPSU enters the contest with a 5-2 overall record, but they've also been tested by two NCAA Division I exhibition contests against Louisiana-Lafayette and Texas State
- The Aggies have won three straight regular season contests but they have just one win over an NCAA Division II foe this year, Western New Mexico
- Panhandle State averages 85.4 points per game on the year with five players scoring better than 11 points per game, led by sophomore forward Jace Kerr at 19.9 ppg
 
The Coaches
SWOSU: Bob Battisti (52-41, 4th season; 461-337 career, 28th season)
- In his fourth season as the head coach of the Bulldogs, having led SWOSU to at least 16 wins in each of his first three years at the helm
- Has coached five players at SWOSU that earned All-GAC distinction, including one GAC Player of the Year (Rod Camphor) and one GAC Defensive Player of the Year (Michael Bradley)
- Previously spent 25 years at Northwestern Oklahoma State, coaching the men's basketball team for 21 seasons before taking over as the school's athletic director
- In 26 years as a head coach, Battisti has a career record of 459-330 (.582) and he is 1-2 at the conference tournament as the head coach at SWOSU
 
Panhandle State: Jerry Olson (56-198, 10th season)
- Has been the Head Men's Basketball Coach at OPSU since 2007 after previously serving as the Athletic Director for the Aggies as well
- Came to Goodwell after ten years as an assistant men's basketball coach at Montana State
 
Checking the Standings
- With Great American Conference play on a hiatus until January, Arkansas-Monticello will take the league lead into the holiday break with a perfect 4-0 mark in GAC games
- A log jam of four teams are just one game back of the Weevils with a 3-1 conference mark to date: Harding, Henderson State, Southern Arkansas, Southern Nazarene
- Tied for sixth place with even records of 2-2 through the first four games are Arkansas Tech, East Central and Ouachita
- After picking up their first conference victory, the Bulldogs moved into a share of ninth place in the standings with Oklahoma Baptist

SWOSU Notes
- Devin Pugh scored 19 points against Cameron, leading the Bulldogs in scoring for the fifth time in eight games this season
- For the year, Pugh is the Bulldogs leading scorer and he ranks 18th in the GAC for scoring with an average of 13.4 points per game
- Markeise Champion has reached double figures in scoring during six of the last seven games and he's averaging 17.0 points per contest while coming off the bench in the last three outings
- Reshardd Harris posted 15 points and four rebounds in Wednesday's win over Cameron, giving him a combined 36 points and 18 rebounds in the Dawgs last two victories
- SWOSU ranks third in the Great American Conference with 76 made three-pointers this season, an avearge of 9.5 per game
- Champion (22) and Pugh (19) lead the Dawgs in made three-pointers, with Nick Shoemaker moving into double figures with 10-of-26 (38.5%) shooting from long range this season
- Luke Lewallen set a new career high with eight rebounds and dished out a season-best three assists against Cameron
 
Looking Ahead
- The Bulldogs return from the holiday break to face Randall (formerly Hillsdale Baptist) on December 31st at 3:00 pm in the final non-conference game of the season
- Great American Conference play heats back up with a weekend trip to Arkadelphia to face Ouachita and Henderson State on January 5-7
