2016 CoSIDA Academic All-America® Football Team (pdf)
AUSTIN, Texas – The 2016 Academic All-America® Division II football team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) was announced on Wednesday. Among the honorees is SWOSU senior safety
Cameron Nix, who becomes the program's first Academic All-American as an NCAA Division II institution.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CoSIDA with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2016-17 Division II Academic All-America® teams program.
A senior from Carnegie, Okla., Nix earns Second Team Academic All-America honors after concluding his career with the Bulldogs by appearing in all 11 games in the defensive secondary and on special teams, making two starts at safety. He collected 22 tackles (11 solo, 11 assist) in his senior season and became a two-time CoSIDA Academic All-District selection this year after switching positions from quarterback to defensive back prior to his junior season. Nix was named SWOSU's Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year for 2015-16 and he continues to carry a 4.0 grade point average in Biology into his final semester.

Nix becomes SWOSU's fifth student-athlete named to a CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team since becoming an NCAA Division II program in 1997 and the first coming from the football program. He is also the lone two-time Academic All-District honoree for Bulldog Football.
