CANYON, Texas – SWOSU Volleyball split a pair of four-set matches on Saturday in Texas, defeating Oklahoma City 3-1 before being dealt a 3-1 setback against triangular host West Texas A&M. The Bulldogs' record remains even at 7-7 on the year heading into a match Monday at Langston.
SWOSU 3, Oklahoma City 1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-23, 25-18)Box Score Carly Zak had a team-high 15 kills and the Bulldogs set a new season-high with 12 blocks as they overcame a first-set defeat and earned the victory in four. Zak was efficient as always, putting down her 15 kills with just one hitting error for a .412 hitting percentage while adding four blocks and three digs.
Paige Holt had nine kills,
Kayla Hebert added eight and
Kelsi Schmidtberger had seven as the Bulldogs hit .237 for the match. Schmidtberger had eight block assists, the most by a SWOSU player this season, while Hebert led the Dawgs with 37 assists and
Kaila Lancaster had a team-best 19 digs.
West Texas A&M 3, SWOSU 1 (25-20, 15-25, 19-25, 14-25)Box Score The roles were reversed in the night cap as SWOSU won the first set 25-20 before the Lady Buffs came roaring back and won the next three sets to take the match.
Blair Dressendorfer set a new career-high with 14 kills in the match while hitting .217 and also recording two blocks. Zak and Schmidtberger each had 12 kills, while Zak set a new career-high in digs for the third time in the past five matches with 20 digs.
Hebert set up SWOSU with 35 assists to go along with six digs, four kills and two blocks. Schmidtberger and Holt shared team-high honors with three blocks apiece while
Kaila Lancaster added another 15 digs to her total.
