Lady Bulldogs Finish Second at Super Region 3 Championships to Clinch Berth at Nationals

LAKE ELMO, Minn. – The climb up the leaderboard by the SWOSU women's golf team was completed on Tuesday as the Lady Bulldogs jumped up to second place at the Super Region 3 Championships to earn their first-ever trip to the NCAA Division II Championships.
 
Ana Gomez shot her best round of the tournament, posting a 74 on Tuesday after previous rounds of 75 and 78. Her effort moved her into sole possession of second place with a three-round stroke total of 227. Margaret Musser and Ashlynn Hall shot rounds of 76 and 78, respectively, on Tuesday and finished tied for 18th with a total of 237 strokes. Hall will be making a return trip to nationals after qualifying as an individual last season.
 
Victoria Dobbie carded an 82 on Tuesday after earlier rounds of 82 and 76 and she finished tied for 27th with a combined stroke total of 240. The highest score of the day from SWOSU came from Jessica Heard, who one day earlier posted the Bulldogs best round and finished tied for 42nd in the tournament.
 
Central Oklahoma was a runaway winner of the regional and they will join SWOSU and Arkansas Tech as teams qualifying for the national tournament. SWOSU edged ATU by three strokes after trailing them on both prior days in the tournament.
 
SWOSU's women's team will now make their first-ever appearance at the NCAA Division II Championships, which will be held May 14-17 at the Rock Barn Golf & Spa in Conover, N.C.
