Newman struck first, scoring one run off of Joiner in the second inning before the Bulldogs tied the game on an RBI single from Thaxton in the top of the third inning. It was Brandon Ruiz who gave the Bulldogs their first lead, reaching on a fielder's choice that allowed Dietrick Turney to score, making it 2-1 in the fifth inning.

After the Jets tied the game at 2-2 in the bottom of the fifth, SWOSU got RBI singles from Jaden Chappell and Daniels in the sixth inning and an RBI groundout from Zack Mang in the seventh to take a 5-2 lead. Joiner was chased from the game after two hits by Newman in the seventh inning and Travis Leverett allowed a two-run triple that allowed the Jets to get within one at 5-4.

Leverett then got the next batter to fly out and JR Head tossed out the runner on third base as he tried to score, ending the inning and the scoring threat by Newman. Tyler Hampton entered the game for SWOSU with one out in the eighth and recorded the final five outs to earn his third save of the season.

Joiner got the win and moves to 1-3 on the year after going 6.1 innings and allowing seven hits and four runs while walking one batter.

The Bulldogs open their series at East Central with a single game on Friday at 3 pm in Ada.
