RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – No. 15 Arkansas Tech extended the SWOSU Baseball teams slide to five games after scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, helping them defeat the Bulldogs 5-2 in the series finale on Sunday.

Dalton Daniels hit a two-run single in the second inning to get the Bulldogs on top 2-0, but their offense was stalled from then on, recording only three hits the rest of the game. The pitching of Jacob Swigart gave the Bulldogs a chance to stay in the game as he allowed just one run and three hits heading into the seventh inning.

After recording two outs to start the seventh, however, Arkansas Tech got a two hits and one batter hit by a pitch, setting up for a three-run home run that turned the tide in favor of the home team. Swigart rebounded to get the next batter out and get SWOSU out of the inning, but not before the damage had been done.

The Bulldogs got one baserunner in both the eighth and ninth innings but were unable to advance either past second base. Travis Leverett relieved Swigart in the eighth inning and pitched the final inning for SWOSU.

SWOSU falls to 16-13 on the year and 10-8 in Great American Conference play, which moves them down to fifth place in the conference standings. They will play a midweek game at Cameron on Tuesday before returning home to host Harding next weekend for a three-game conference series.
