ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A nine-game conference winning streak was snapped and an attempt at a third straight series sweep for SWOSU was halted by Ouachita Baptist as the Tigers handed SWOSU a 7-3 defeat on Saturday.

Jacob Swigart started for SWOSU but was unable to make it out of the third inning after OBU struck for four runs in the inning to take the lead on the scoreboard. SWOSU responded with runs in the fifth, seventh and ninth innings but OBU added three runs down the stretch to keep the margin at four runs.

JR Head had half of SWOSU's hits, going 3-for-4 from the plate with two RBI while Kale Thaxton got credit for the other run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the seventh inning.

Swigart was saddled with the loss after five walks and two hits allowed four runs for OBU in the third inning. Swigart – who moves to 3-2 on the year – was relieved by Dillon Wilson, Travis Leverett and Chris Joiner, who each tossed at least one inning in relief.

SWOSU falls to 16-10 on the year and 10-5 in conference play, but they among a three-way tie for the top spot in the Great American Conference standings based on winning percentage. The Bulldogs host USAO on Tuesday at 3 pm in non-conference play before heading to Arkansas Tech for a crucial three-game series next weekend.
