EDMOND, Okla. – An eight-game winning streak for the SWOSU baseball team was snapped on Tuesday evening by Oklahoma Christian. The Eagles needed an extra inning to hand SWOSU their first loss since February 22 by a score of 7-6.

SWOSU got on the board first, loading the bases and scoring two runs in the top of the second inning. Tyler Rapp hit a sacrifice fly that scored Jiro Morales and an OC error allowed Zack Mang to score from third later in the inning.

The Eagles responded with one run in each the third, fourth and fifth innings to take a 3-2 lead until SWOSU struck for four in the top of the sixth when Chris Faulkner hit his first home run of the year, a grand slam that put SWOSU on top 6-3.

That was where the offense stopped for SWOSU and OC got two runs in the eighth and one in the ninth to tie the game and send it to extras. The Bulldogs stranded Kale Thaxton at third base in the top of the 10th and OC used a leadoff double to score the winning run, which came on a wild pitch from Travis Leverett.

Leverett pitched the final 1.2 innings and was saddled with the loss after allowing two hits and two runs. Leverett suffers his first loss of the year, moving to 3-1, after relieving starter Dillon Wilson and Chris Joiner, who each allowed five hits in the game.

SWOSU is at home this weekend to face Henderson State for a three-game series starting Friday at 2 pm with a single game.
