WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Despite an off week, the Southwestern Oklahoma State University baseball team has entered the D2BaseballNews.com national rankings, checking in at No. 26 this week.
This marks the first time the Bulldogs have been ranked by D2BaseballNews.com and just the second time SWOSU Baseball has reached a national ranking. During the 2011 season, the Bulldogs entered the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Top 25 poll for two weeks, peaking at No. 24 for the week of April 4, 2011.
SWOSU is one of three teams from the Great American Conference currently in the rankings, following No. 4 Southern Arkansas – who the Bulldogs will host for a three-game series this weekend – and No. 21 Arkansas-Monticello.
The Bulldogs, under the direction of third-year head coach
Zack Saunders, are 2-1 on the season after taking two of three games from UT-Permian Basin on February 1. SWOSU returns to action this afternoon, facing West Texas A&M at 2 pm in Canyon, Texas.
