Box Score (html)

RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU suffered their second straight defeat on Wednesday night as they fell late to Arkansas Tech 69-65 at Tucker Coliseum, a venue the Bulldogs are now 0-4 at as a member of the Great American Conference.

In the final game before the holiday break, SWOSU attempted a season-high 44 shots from downtown, hitting 12 for a 27.3 percentage from long range. The Bulldogs only attempted 21 shots from inside the arc, connecting on 10 while also hitting 9-of-15 free throws.

Trent Washington rebounded from a slow shooting start to score 20 points on 6-of-24 shooting, including 6-of-21 shooting from 3-point range. Keyshawn Perkins poured in a career-high 16 points while Martell Collins recorded another double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

SWOSU battled foul trouble throughout the game, leaving a huge disparity at the free throw line as the home team toed the stripe 40 times, connecting on 26 compared to just 9-of-15 for SWOSU at the charity line. Ayo Ojo and Kenyan Borders both fouled out late in the game for SWOSU, who was whistled for 27 fouls, nearly double the amount called on the home team.

"I can't argue with our effort," SWOSU Coach Bob Battisti said. "We brought our toughness and played with courage, we just didn't hit enough shots tonight. This is not an end for us, it's a beginning. We get a few days off now for break and then we hit the meat of the GAC schedule."

The Bulldogs suffered their second straight defeat, falling to 6-4 (1-3 GAC) on the year with one game remaining before the calendar turns. SWOSU will host Oklahoma Science & Arts on December 30 at 7:30 pm at the Pioneer Cellular Event Center.
