TULSA, Okla. – For the first time in program history, SWOSU soccer stepped up in competition to face an NCAA Division I school, taking on Oral Roberts on Sunday afternoon. The Golden Eagles overmatched the Lady Bulldogs, scoring three goals in each half and claiming the 6-1 victory.
ORU got on the board in the first minute of the game and added back-to-back goals from Kayla Keller in the 19th and 20th minutes to push the lead to 3-0.
Samantha Nunez got SWOSU on the board early in the second half, but it took just 19 seconds for ORU to answer the goal and go up 4-1. The Golden Eagles rounded out the scoring with goals in the 61st and 76th minutes.
SWOSU attempted just nine shots and five shots on goal while ORU had 14 shots and 10 on goal.
Brooke Siler had one save in the first half and
Shannon Differ stopped three shots in the second.
The Lady Bulldogs have one more road match – at West Texas A&M on Thursday – before the home opener next Sunday (Sept. 15) against Nebraska-Kearney.
