ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – SWOSU Soccer opened its only weekend trip to Arkansas against Ouachita Baptist on Thursday night, with the Bulldogs and Tigers battling to a 1-1 draw after 90 hard-fought minutes.
The match was stopped twice within a three-minute span for multiple reviews, resulting in more than 30 minutes of delays. After the lengthy stoppages, the score remained 1-1.
After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs struck quickly in the second, taking a 1-0 lead in the 49th minute. Krysta Hook found the back of the net following a beautiful setup from Madelyn Kitchen, who was credited with the assist.
The Tigers answered 10 minutes later, tying the match with a header off a well-placed corner kick into the box.
The physical, rain-soaked battle featured four yellow cards, with three issued to Ouachita Baptist and one to SWOSU.
The Bulldogs held a 17-13 advantage in total shots and a slim 6-5 edge in shots on goal. Saoirse Hourigan led SWOSU with five shots, while Makena Hix added three.
The Bulldogs (4-2-4, 2-1-1 GAC) will return to the pitch in Searcy on Saturday, October 3, when they face Harding at 1 p.m.
