WEATHERFORD, Okla. – Trent Washington tied Saturday's nightcap at the SWOSU Classic with 7.7 seconds remaining on a deep three pointer, but Angelo State's Tommy Woolridge responded with a basket in the final two seconds to lift the Rams to a 67-65 victory.
A 15-2 run put SWOSU up 53-44 with 11:20 to play in the game and the Bulldogs held an nine-point lead with just over nine minutes to play before Angelo State came storming back. The Rams went on top 65-62 on a tip-in from Ryan Marsh with just over one minute to play and after two empty possessions, Washington came off a screen to hit a three from the right wing to tie the game at 65-65 with seven seconds to play.
Following an Angelo State timeout, the Rams went to Woolridge who managed to find his way into the paint and drop in a teardrop with two seconds to play. After the Bulldogs called timeout, Washington got off one last heave that didn't find its mark, sending SWOSU to the tough loss.
Gary Inglett led SWOSU with his second consecutive double-double, totaling 22 points and 11 rebounds, including a perfect 13-of-13 shooting from the free throw line. Washington added 19 points and
Rod Camphor chipped in 12 for the Bulldogs.
Michael Bradley scored six points and blocked a career high five shots in 31 minutes of action.
SWOSU falls to 0-2 to open the season with their next five games away from home. The Bulldogs visit USAO next Saturday at 7 pm in Chickasha.
