CANYON, Texas – A season-low 49 points on 30% (12-of-40) field goal shooting contributed to the end of SWOSU's four-game winning streak as the Bulldogs were downed 71-49 by Eastern New Mexico on Saturday at the Pak-a-Sak Thanksgiving Classic.
SWOSU led early in the game 7-5 before Eastern New Mexico went on a 15-0 run that the Bulldogs never managed to recover from. After taking a 43-23 lead to the break, ENMU held a lead of at least 18 points the entire second half.
The lone bright spot for SWOSU offensively was
Gary Inglett, who scored 19 points but needed to convert 15-of-16 free throws to do so.
Rod Camphor also reached double figures with 12 points, but he was just 4-of-10 shooting from the field. SWOSU hit just 30% of their field goals and they were 3-of-17 (17.6%) shooting from three-point range.
"We never got in sync offensively and we were unable to get into an offensive flow," Head Coach
Bob Battisti said. "They played a zone against us and we stood around too much and didn't move the ball so we struggled to get good looks at the basket. This one didn't go our way so when we get home, we've got to get to work and get ready for Southern Nazarene on Thursday."
The Bulldogs, now 4-3 on the year, host SNU on Thursday (Dec. 5) in their return to Great American Conference play. That game will tipoff at 7:30 pm from Rankin Williams Fieldhouse.
