CANYON, Texas – Rod Camphor scored 27 points, converting two four-point plays, to lead SWOSU to their fourth straight victory, a 73-67 defeat of West Texas A&M at the Pak-a-Sak Thanksgiving Classic on Friday night.

The Bulldogs started slow, managing just 11 points in the first 11 minutes of the game as West Texas A&M took a 23-11 lead with 8:47 to play in the half. SWOSU closed the half strong, however, with Camphor hitting back-to-back three's in the closing minutes,  briefly giving SWOSU a 30-29 lead after his first four-point play with 44 seconds remaining.

West Texas A&M held SWOSU at bay early in the second half before Gary Inglett finally reclaimed the lead for the Dawgs on a three-point play with 12:02 to play. Consecutive three pointers for the Buffaloes put WT on top 51-49 before SWOSU went on an 18-4 run that included Camphor's second four-point play and a big dunk from Michael Bradley off an assist from Kenyan Borders.

SWOSU took a 67-55 lead with just under five minutes remaining before West Texas A&M hit a trio of three pointers and pulled within two at 69-67 with 1:18 to play. On their next possession, SWOSU went to Inglett who worked his way in for a short jumper to extend the lead to four at 71-67. A pair of defensive stops and two free throws from Camphor put the game away for the Bulldogs, who snapped a six-game losing streak to WT and earned their first win over the Buffs in Canyon since 2006.

"We got beat up inside early, but I think our kids adjusted well," Head Coach Bob Battisti said after the game. "The last 10 minutes of the game, we started giving blows instead of taking them and a lot of guys stepped up and made plays late in the game. West Texas A&M is a very good team and this is a tough place to play but our team grew up a little bit tonight to get this win."

Camphor led SWOSU with a game-high and season-best 27 points on 9-of-12 shooting, which included 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range. He was joined in double figures by running mates Bradley, who had 16, along with Inglett and Trent Washington, who each put in 11 points.

The win is the fourth straight for SWOSU, improving the Bulldogs to 4-2 on the year. They will be back in action on Saturday afternoon, facing Eastern New Mexico at 2:30 pm to conclude the Pak-a-Sak Thanksgiving Classic.
