ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – After battling to a draw three weeks ago in Weatherford, it appeared the SWOSU soccer team and Ouachita Baptist were on the verge of overtime in Sunday afternoon's rematch in Arkansas. However, Miranda Balezentis scored with just over one minute to play in regulation to send the Bulldogs to a 1-0 victory.

The game matched up the top two teams in the conference standings and could've allowed Ouachita Baptist to pull tied with the Bulldogs had they won the match. With the victory, SWOSU now inches closer to their second consecutive Great American Conference championship.

Sunday's match saw SWOSU attempt 27 shots compared to 14 for the Tigers while getting 13 shots on goal while holding OBU to 10. Courtney Flores turned away five shots and the Bulldogs defense was able to block the other five shots and pick up the shutout, the fifth for Flores this season.

Paige Doherty led SWOSU with six shot attempts while Jessica Carbonara added five, with each player getting two on goal, but it was Balezentis who put one past Sarah Broyles for the victory. Balezentis took the team lead by scoring her sixth goal of the season as she beat the keeper from 20 yards out on a shot in the middle of the field.

The win improves SWOSU to 10-3-2 (6-1-1 GAC) on the year and it gives Bulldogs just their second 10-win season in program history. A SWOSU win over Northwestern Oklahoma State in Friday's final home match of the year would clinch a second consecutive GAC Championship for the Bulldogs.
