Keith Richardson, Jr.

Keith Richardson, Jr., enters his sixth season as an assistant men's basketball coach at SWOSU after joining the staff in January of 2018.

Richardson and the Bulldogs are coming off of a historic 2021-22 season after qualifying for the NCAA Tournament for the second time in the program's Division II history following a Great American Conference Tournament Championship. SWOSU won three straight games in the conference tournament as the No. 7 seed to win the title.

An alum of SWOSU, Richardson returned to his alma mater following five years in the coaching profession, which most recently included a stop at UT-Permian Basin as an assistant coach with the women's basketball team. Prior to that, he spent two seasons at Brown Mackie College, serving first as an assistant for the men's program before leading the women's team during the 2016-17 season. His first collegiate coaching stop was at NCAA Division I Central Arkansas, where he was an assistant during the 2013-14 season.

Richardson played at SWOSU from 2008-10 under current Athletic Director Todd Thurman after starting his career at Arkansas Baptist. He then started coaching as a volunteer assistant at Weatherford High School in 2012 while also working as a graduate assistant for the SWOSU Athletic Department.

A native of Little Rock, Ark., Richardson owns two degrees from SWOSU, having earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice in 2010 follow by a master's degree in Sports Management in 2012.
