Nate Haremza is in his second season as a graduate assistant at SWOSU and he will continue to coach the Bulldog tight ends while assisting with the offensive line in 2016.

In his first season at SWOSU, Haremza helped the Bulldogs to a record-setting offensive campaign that ended with an 8-4 record and a second-place finish in the Great American Conference standings. The Bulldogs then secured a berth in the Live United Texarkana Bowl, the program’s first postseason game since joining NCAA Division II.

SWOSU set single-season records for the NCAA era in scoring (32.2 points per game), rushing yards (1,912) and rushing touchdowns (24) in 2015 with four members of the offense earning All-GAC accolades. Three different tight ends made contributions in the passing game, led by Collin Bricker who was sixth on the team with 21 receptions and one touchdown.

Haremza came to SWOSU after spending the 2015 spring as the offensive line coach and recruiting coordinator at Garden City Community College. Prior to that, he spent the 2014 fall season as the tight ends and assistant offensive line coach at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M where he coached five All-Southwest Junior College Football Conference (SWJCFC) selections and one All-American.

As a player, Haremza spent two seasons at Southern Illinois, making 12 starts along the Salukis offensive line and helping SIU to a combined 13-10 record. His collegiate career began at Butler Community College in Kansas, where he was a two-time All-Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC) selection. He helped the Grizzlies to a 22-2 record in two seasons, including a No. 2 national ranking at the conclusion of the 2011 season.

A native of Larned, Kansas, Haremza completed his bachelor’s degree in Sports Administration from Southern Illinois in 2014 and he is now working towards a master’s degree in Sports Management from SWOSU.
