Coach Lonardo enters his first season as Offensive Coordinator for the Bulldogs after spending the previous two seasons with Head Coach Josh Kirkland at New Mexico Highlands. At NMHU, Lonardo was responsible for quarterbacks and recruiting.
During the 2021 season, Lonardo coached a passing attack that helped earn Cowboy wide receiver CJ Sims Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors and quarterback Ramone Atkins first team all-conference. The NMHU passing offense finished atop the RMAC rankings in many statistical categories including yards, yards per game, and touchdowns.
Prior to NMHU, Lonardo was Offensive Coordinator and Quarterbacks Coach for one season at ASA College in New York. He was tasked with the installation of a new up-tempo offense and went 8-2 as the play caller – finishing the season as a top-20 team in NJCAA and ranking top-five in all of junior college in points per game, yards per game, and rushing.
Lonardo spent one season as a graduate assistant at Tarleton State University responsible for wide receivers and tight ends. Â TSU won the Lone Star Conference Championship and ranked in the top-10 in nearly all offensive categories. He saw four members from the 2018 team move on to play professional football.
His coaching career began at Southeastern University (NAIA) where he spent two seasons as a graduate assistant. His first year began on the defensive side of the ball, before switching over to wide receivers in year two. Both seasons he coached ended in conference championships.
A native of St. Petersburg, Fla., Lonardo earned a bachelor’s degree from Florida Atlantic in 2015 and a master’s degree from Tarleton State in 2018. Â
