RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Volleyball's Mackenzie Sims has been named the Great American Conference Setter of the Week following a strong showing at the Gorilla Classic, the league announced Monday.
Sims (Amarillo, Texas) helped direct the Bulldog offense during a three-match winning streak to close out the tournament, totaling 116 assists across 10 sets for an average of 11.6 assists per set.
The sophomore setter opened the stretch with a season-high 49 assists in SWOSU's four-set victory over Truman State. She followed with 36 assists as the Bulldogs swept previously unbeaten tournament host Pittsburg State before closing the weekend with 31 assists and 10 digs in a straight-set win over William Jewell.
Behind Sims, SWOSU dropped just one set across its three victories and finished the Gorilla Classic on a three-match winning streak. The Bulldogs went 3-1 overall at the tournament after dropping their opening match to Missouri Southern.
The weekly honor is the second of Sims' career after she also earned GAC Setter of the Week during the final week of the 2025 regular season. She went on to earn Honorable Mention All-GAC recognition as a freshman after finishing fourth in the conference in assists per set.
