SWOSU Football heads to Shawnee on Saturday for its first meeting with Oklahoma Baptist since last season's 38-24 Bulldog victory. SWOSU enters at 0-3 after another six-point loss to Southeastern, while the Bison are 2-1 following a 55-37 win at Northwestern Oklahoma State.

Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Crain Family Stadium at the Hurt Complex. Saturday begins a stretch of two consecutive road games for the Bulldogs.

SIX THINGS TO KNOW

1. BACK TO SHAWNEE
The Bulldogs won last year's meeting 38-24 in Weatherford. Their most recent win in Shawnee was a 38-31 overtime victory in 2022.

2. A RECORD RUNNING NIGHT
SWOSU rushed for 388 yards against OBU last season, tying its GAC-era single-game record. The Bulldogs are averaging 135 rushing yards through three games in 2026.

3. BISON BOUNCE BACK
OBU followed a 66-9 loss at Henderson State with a 55-37 win at Northwestern. The Bison amassed 546 yards and 34 first downs in Alva. Brady Bricker threw for 317 yards, while Devan Daniels scored on runs of 43 and 48 yards.

4. WATCH THE RUN GAME
OBU has allowed 272.0 rushing yards per game, including 430 at Henderson State. SWOSU's Red Martel enters Saturday averaging 7.0 yards per carry with two rushing touchdowns.

5. STRENGTH VS. STRENGTH
The Bison threw for 334 yards at Northwestern, their second game this season with at least 260 passing yards. SWOSU has held its first three opponents to 115.7 passing yards per game and a 48.3-percent completion rate.

6. JACKSON'S START
Reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week Keshaun Jackson has a league-leading 37 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. He also has accounted for an interception and two fumble recoveries and has recorded 15 tackles in each of SWOSU's last two games.

Oklahoma Baptist returns to Shawnee after splitting two road games. The Bison fell 66-9 at Henderson State before rebounding with a 55-37 win at Northwestern Oklahoma State. That game was called with 6:53 remaining because of weather.

OBU is averaging 34.0 points and 407.3 yards per game, with 272.3 yards coming through the air. Quarterback Brady Bricker threw for 317 yards against Northwestern, and Jacob Trimble caught nine passes for 118 yards. Devan Daniels added 116 rushing yards and touchdown runs of 43 and 48 yards. Through three games, the Bison have converted 19-of-34 third downs (55.9%). Trimble is second in the GAC, averaging 14 yards per catch with 252 total receiving yards.

Opponents are averaging 41.0 points and 464.7 yards against OBU, including 272.0 rushing yards per game. They have converted 24-of-38 third downs (63.2%). On special teams, Carter Lowry is 3-for-4 on field goals this season after making 12-of-18 attempts in 2025.

BULLDOG BITES

A CHANGE OF PACE: SWOSU passed for 277 yards in its opener at Arkansas Tech. Against Southeastern last week, the Bulldogs ran for a season-high 179 yards and scored twice on the ground.

MARTEL MAKES HIS MARK: Red Martel rushed for 87 yards and both Bulldog rushing touchdowns against Southeastern. He has 105 yards on 15 carries through three games.

BEASLEY'S FAST START: DeAndre Beasley opened the season with 131 receiving yards at Arkansas Tech and 101 against Harding, becoming the first Bulldog with consecutive 100-yard receiving games since 2019. His lone catch against Southeastern went for a touchdown.

BACKFIELD PRESSURE: SWOSU has 29 tackles for loss and eight sacks, tied for second in the GAC in sacks. Jackson has four sacks, while Keith Hargraves has four tackles for loss.

JACKSON LEADS THE WAY: Jackson leads the GAC with 37 tackles and 6.5 tackles for loss and four sacks through three games. He is averaging 12.3 tackles per contest.

GET OFF THE FIELD: SWOSU ranks fourth in the GAC in third-down defense, allowing conversions on 14-of-44 attempts (31.8%). OBU enters converting 55.9% of its third downs, third best in the conference.

ANOTHER CLOSE FINISH: SWOSU's losses at Arkansas Tech and against Southeastern came by six points apiece. The Bulldogs reached the Arkansas Tech 5-yard line on the final drive of the game in Week 1 but could not score. Against Southeastern, SWOSU took a 21-17 lead early in the fourth quarter. A blocked-punt safety cut the lead to 21-19 before the Savage Storm scored the winning touchdown with nine seconds left.

CLEANING UP THE RETURN GAME: SWOSU has lost three special teams fumbles over its last two games: a muffed punt against Harding, then a muffed punt and a muffed kickoff against Southeastern.

GET A HAND ON IT: Jaylen Niedo has blocked two kicks in three games: an extra point at Arkansas Tech and a 45-yard field goal attempt against Southeastern. Malcolm Murphy also blocked a fourth-quarter field goal against the Savage Storm.

YARDS ARE HARD TO COME BY: SWOSU ranks third in the GAC in total defense at 307.3 yards allowed per game, despite facing No. 2 Harding in Week 2. OBU brings the conference's fourth-ranked offense at 407.3 yards per game.

A PATH ON THE GROUND: SWOSU rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns against Southeastern last week. Oklahoma Baptist is allowing 272.0 rushing yards per game, the third most in the GAC.

MJ Rivers ran for 117 yards and accounted for three touchdowns. Zack Roberts' 24-yard interception return gave SWOSU a 14-0 lead before OBU rallied to tie the game in the second quarter. The Bulldogs regained the lead before halftime and pulled away after the break, with Ethane Hyche adding a fourth-quarter rushing touchdown.
