Fast Start, Season-High Shooting Fuels Road Win

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – A 14-0 start paired with a season-high 49% shooting performance proved to be the difference Saturday, as SWOSU Women's Basketball earned a 73-57 road victory over Henderson State.

The win served as revenge for the Lady Bulldogs after Henderson State opened the earlier meeting in Weatherford with a 20-0 run en route to a victory.

On Saturday, SWOSU placed four players in double figures and turned in one of its best defensive performances of the season, holding the Reddies to just 30.5% shooting — tied for their third-lowest mark of the year.

The Lady Bulldogs controlled the game from the opening tip, outscoring Henderson State in each of the first three quarters before playing the Reddies even in the final 10 minutes. SWOSU's best stretches came in the first and third quarters, where the Lady Dawgs shot a combined 17-of-31 (.548) and outscored the home side by 13 points.

Henderson State made a push in the fourth, trimming SWOSU's lead from 13 down to six just past the midway point of the quarter, but the Lady Bulldogs responded with timely baskets to push the margin back to double digits and close out the win.

Landry Allen led SWOSU with 19 points, eight rebounds, and six blocks. Sincere Jackson added 15 points, while Elle Papahronis recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

With the victory, SWOSU improves to 8-12 overall and 6-9 in Great American Conference play. The Lady Bulldogs return home next week to host Northwestern on Thursday, February 12, and Southern Nazarene on Saturday, February 14.
