Lady Bulldogs Stumble in First Game of Arkadelphia Swing

ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Basketball suffered its second loss of the season to Ouachita Baptist, as the Lady Dawgs dropped the first game of the Arkadelphia trip, 79-47, on Thursday evening.

The Lady Dawgs are now 7-12 overall and 5-9 in GAC play, placing them on the outside looking in for postseason contention with just a few weeks remaining in the regular season. SWOSU will be back in action on Saturday, crossing the street to face Henderson State at 1:00 p.m.

Early momentum swung in Ouachita's favor as the Tigers went on a 12-0 run at the 5:56 mark of the first quarter that extended into the opening points of the second quarter. Later in the second quarter, Ouachita used another surge to put the game out of reach, as a 10-0 run stretched the lead to 37-16.

Trailing 42-26 at halftime, the Lady Bulldogs managed to make just six total field goals in the second half, preventing any sort of a chance at a comeback.

Shooting struggles were a major factor in the outcome, as SWOSU shot just 16-67 from the field (23.9%), its lowest mark of the season. On the other side, Ouachita finished 26-59 for 44.1%. The Lady Dawgs' production off the bench was also overshadowed by the Tiger reserves, as SWOSU managed only 11 bench points compared to 33 for Ouachita. Through three quarters of play, all of SWOSU's points came from the starting five. Ouachita added 17 fast break points, while SWOSU had none.

Sincere Jackson led the Lady Dawgs with 15 points to go along with five rebounds. Landry Allen added 11 points and two blocks in just 22 minutes, as she battled foul trouble throughout the game.
