No. 23 Harding Takes Series from Dawgs with Saturday Sweep

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Baseball was unable to secure the series against No. 23 Harding on Saturday, falling to the Bisons 7-2 and 7-3 to drop the weekend set two games to one.
 
SWOSU moves to 9-7 overall and 2-4 in GAC play through two weekends of conference action. The Dawgs will travel to Southern Nazarene for a midweek non-conference matchup Tuesday before heading to Shawnee next weekend to face Oklahoma Baptist.
 
Game One
Harding 7, SWOSU 2
 
The opener featured a tight pitcher's duel early, with Harding striking first in the second inning after an error allowed a runner to reach. The Bisons carried a 1-0 lead through five innings before breaking the game open with five combined runs in the sixth and seventh. Eight of Harding's 10 hits came during that stretch.
 
SWOSU finally broke through in the bottom of the seventh, but Harding added an insurance run in the ninth to secure the win.
 
Josh Doelitsch (L) worked 5.1 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on three hits while striking out two and walking two. Jared Adams entered in the sixth and finished the game on the mound.
 
Landon Meyer and Kotaro Wakui each doubled and went 2-for-5 at the plate.
 
The Bulldogs stranded 12 runners in the contest.
 
Game Two
Harding 7, SWOSU 3
 
In the finale, SWOSU fell behind early as Harding built a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Bulldogs were limited to single runs in the third, fifth, and seventh and were unable to generate a sustained rally.
 
Harding's starter kept the Bulldog offense in check, limiting SWOSU to five hits and no extra-base hits. He was lifted one batter shy of a complete game in the seventh.
 
Will David (L) pitched 6.0 innings before Brodie Andrews entered following a leadoff single in the final frame.
 
Kellen Frizzell recorded the lone multi-hit performance for SWOSU, finishing 2-for-2 with two RBI.
