RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SWOSU Women's Golf freshman Maria Velilla earned her third Great American Conference Women's Golfer of the Week honor of the season following her top-three finish at the Southern Invitational on Tuesday.
 
Velilla claimed two weekly honors during the fall and now picks up her third at the first opportunity of the spring season.
 
The freshman tied for third at Cypresswood Golf Club in Spring, Texas, improving her score in all three rounds of the tournament. She opened with a 76 (+4), followed with a 74 (+2) in round two, and closed with a one-under 71 in Tuesday's final round. Her strong finish moved her up nine spots on the leaderboard from rounds two to three. Velilla recorded just one bogey in the final round, paired with two birdies.
 
Velilla currently ranks fourth in the NCAA Central Region and has now recorded three top-three finishes through six stroke play tournaments during the 2025-26 season.
