Bulldogs Defeat Colorado Christian Behind Second Clean Sheet

LAKEWOOD, Colo. – SWOSU Soccer kept both their record and net clean with another shutout win in Colorado, this time edging Colorado Christian 1-0.

Goalkeeper Emma Young and the Bulldog defense continued their strong start to the season, with Young stopping all five of CCU's shots on goal on Saturday. Through 180 minutes of action this year, she has faced 11 shots (on goal) without conceding a goal.

The lone goal of the match came in the opening half, as Braelee Epp was able to get the ball past the Cougar defense and collect her first collegiate goal of her young career. Riley Massey was the leg that set Epp up for the strike.

After 17 combined shots in the first half, the defenses tightened up as the final 45 minutes saw just eight total attempts between the two teams. CCU finished with 15 shots compared to 10 from the Dawgs, but both sides tallied six shots on goal. Each team also recorded 10 fouls and received one yellow card in the 89th minute.

Saoirse Hourigan, who found the net on Thursday, led the Bulldogs with four shots on Saturday, two of which were on goal, matching Epp's production.

SWOSU now returns to Weatherford for a two-game home stand next week, beginning Thursday against Newman at 4:00 p.m. before closing Sunday with Missouri Southern at 2:00 p.m.
