Balanced Attack Propels Bulldogs Past Oklahoma Baptist

SHAWNEE, Okla. – SWOSU Soccer secured a 3-1 win over Oklahoma Baptist to stay undefeated in conference play.

This marked the first victory over the Bison since November 2023, as the Bulldogs had dropped the previous three matchups.

Braelee Epp broke open the scoring in just the third minute of the game thanks to a well-placed pass from Saoirse Hourigan that set her up for a left-footed strike, her fourth goal of the season. Hourigan would later be on the benefiting side of a perfect pass from Laia Costa after breaking away from the Bison back line, scoring the eventual game-winner to put the Dawgs ahead 2-1 before halftime for her sixth goal of the year.

Ruth Vasquez put the game out of reach in the second half after she dribbled in and out of the defense and fired a rocket that deflected off the right goal post and leaked into the net, giving the Dawgs the 3-1 victory and keeping them undefeated in GAC play.

Goalkeeper Emma Young allowed just one goal and made three saves. In contrast, OBU used two goalkeepers, and neither recorded a save in the match.

The Bulldogs (6-2, 2-0 GAC) now have a week off before traveling to Ada to face East Central on Saturday, October 4, at 2:00 p.m. They will then return home on Thursday, October 9, to host Ouachita Baptist.
