ADA, Okla. – SWOSU Soccer picked up a 3-1 win over East Central on Saturday afternoon to stay perfect in conference play with a 3-0 start.
This marks the Bulldogs' first 3-0 opening in GAC play since 2018 — a season that saw them finish 10-2 in conference action.
The Dawgs wasted no time striking first, as Elise LaForge netted her first goal of the year just 37 seconds into the match. She was set up beautifully by Braelee Epp, who collected her third assist of the season. In the 22nd minute, Raniya Cattina delivered what proved to be the game-winner with an unassisted strike — her second goal of the year — giving SWOSU a 2-0 advantage.
The second half remained calm until the 77th minute, when both teams were reduced to 10 players after red cards were issued to both sides. Less than a minute later, the Bulldogs put the match out of reach as Epp found the back of the net off an assist from Brekyn Cope to make it 3-0. ECU salvaged a late goal to avoid the shutout, bringing the final score to 3-1.
SWOSU held a slight edge in total shots (15-13), while ECU led in shots on goal (5-4). Goalkeeper Emma Young continued her steady form, recording four saves while allowing just one late goal.
The Bulldogs return home next week for two matches, hosting Ouachita Baptist on Thursday before closing the week on Saturday against Harding.
