MAYETTA, Kan. – SWOSU Men's Golf competed in the Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn in the final tournament of the regular season where the Bulldogs finished 12th after the three rounds of competition.
No. 10 Oklahoma Christian earned the team win after posting a -5 after the three rounds and was the only team that finished under par for the tournament. No. 5 Central Oklahoma (+4) took home second place and Concordia St. Paul rounded out the top three with a +5 finish.
Jack Phillips led the way for the Bulldogs for a second straight tournament with a T-16 finish. He fired two rounds of under par scores with a 71 (-1) in the opening round before closing out the week with a team best 70 (-2) -- notching 10 birdies over the opening and closing rounds.
Ryan Carlisle and
Lukas Hendricks each posted cards of +10 over the three rounds of play. Carlisle shot 76-75-75 for his three rounds which included at least two birdies in each round. Hendricks improved his score every round and knocked in an eagle in his final round on a 525-yard par five.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora finished T-84 after shooting mid-70's in the opening two rounds before a closing round of 80. He had six birdies on the week.
Jeric Ortiz shot an 85 in his second round to plague his score, finishing T-106 over the three rounds.
SWOSU will now look ahead to competition at the GAC Championships in Fort Smith, Arkansas set to take place on April 21-23 at Hardscrabble C.C. The Bulldogs finished fourth in last year's conference tournament.
