WEATHERFORD – The SWOSU Softball team suffered two losses in a Friday doubleheader against Southern Nazarene by scores of 4-2 and 5-0.
The Bulldogs will be back in action Sunday at 4:00 p.m. after incoming weather delayed the final game by one day to finish the series with the Crimson Storm.
Game One
SNU 4, SWOSU 2
SWOSU never held the lead, as a two-run SNU home run made the difference in game one. The Bulldogs managed only four hits in the game and committed two errors, one of which led to the away team's fourth run.
The scoring came from a
Chesnie Hewitt solo home run in the sixth inning, followed by
Skyla McPhillips' triple in the seventh inning. McPhillips was able to cross home plate after a wild pitch from SNU.
Alexis Taylor (L, 6-4) took the loss in the circle. She pitched 3.0 innings, giving up two earned runs and six hits.
Hannah Nieuwenhuis pitched 4.0 innings in relief, giving up one earned run and six hits.
Game Two
SNU 5, SWOSU 0
The Bulldogs failed to cross home plate in a shutout loss to SNU, securing the series win for the Crimson Storm.
Single-run innings in the second and third put the game at 2-0 in favor of the away team before a three-run fourth separated the teams for good.
Taylor (L, 6-5) took the loss after pitching 2.2 innings and allowing three hits and two earned runs.
Jaycee McKee and
Riley Lusk both threw in relief.
