BOULDER CITY, Nev. – SWOSU Men's Golf started their spring season at the very tough Las Vegas Desert Classic, which featured a field of 16 teams ranked inside the top 50 according to Clippd Scoreboard's rankings. The Dawgs finished 19th at +35 after the three rounds of play.
No. 1 Colorado Christian won the tournament after posting a -28 final score after three rounds of play. No. 13 Florida Southern narrowly earned second place at -20, just one stroke ahead of No. 7 Lincoln Memorial, who captured third.
Jack Phillips finished in T-60 for the highest-playing Bulldog of the week. He shot +5 throughout the 54-hole tournament, with his best round coming in the final 18, where he notched an even-par 72 with two birdies on the card.
Junior
Ryan Carlisle improved his score every round (79-77-73) and finished tied for 83rd.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora bounced back from an 83 (+11) second round to shoot a team-best 68 (-4) in the final round of the tournament. In his final round, he notched seven birdies on his card and went -4 in his final 10 holes with no bogeys.
Jeric Ortiz (+15) and
Lukas Hendricks (+16) rounded out the scores for the Bulldogs. Hendricks shot his best score in round two, going for a 71 (-1) with five birdies to his name.
SWOSU will come back to Oklahoma to play in the Oak Tree Invitational in Edmond, Oklahoma on March 17-18.
