WICHITA FALLS, Texas – SWOSU Men's Golf finished 11th place at the MSU Invitational on Tuesday in the spring semester's penultimate regular season tournament.
The Bulldogs were led by
Jack Phillips who finished six-over par through three rounds. Phillips had his best 18 holes come in Monday's second round when he shot a one-under par 70. He had nine birdies in the tournament, tied for seventh most in the field, and four of those came in his successful second round.
Conrado Diaz Ermacora and
Lukas Hendricks ended with identical final scores in a tie for 24th. Ermacora too had his best round come in the second with a 73 (+2) while Hendricks' third round 72 (+2) helped him climb 13 spots on the leaderboard by tournament's end.
Jeric Ortiz was one of four Bulldogs who carded a score in the mid-70s in the opening round when he finished with a 75. Ortiz could have matched the team's low round score but a double bogey on hole 17 kept him one stroke back from Phillips and Ermacora.
SWOSU will close out the regular season April 7-8 at the Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn in Mayetta, Kansas. The GAC Championships commence April 21-23 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
