Bulldog Baseball Takes Game Two vs Oklahoma Baptist

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Baseball rebounded from a big loss in Friday's opener by defeating Oklahoma Baptist 8-5 in Saturday's first game of the day. The Bulldogs could not pull off a doubleheader sweep after falling to the Bison 3-0 in the series finale.

The Bulldogs (9-7, 2-6 GAC) will welcome USAO to town on Tuesday, March 4 before facing Southern Nazarene in Bethany next weekend.

Game One
SWOSU 8, OBU 5

Tied 5-5, Eric Foufoulas delivered what would be the game-winning hit in the eighth inning when he singled with the bases loaded. Instead of one run scoring, the bases cleared after a throwing error sent all base runners sprinting to cash in.

SWOSU tied the game an inning prior when Markus Coronado plated two runs with a timely two-out hit.

The other three Bulldog runs came in the second inning. Foufoulas walked with the bases loaded for SWOSU's first run, followed by a two-RBI single from Sean Monsour. SWOSU's three runs came in nullifying response to the Bison's three a half inning prior.

Josh Doelitsch got the no decision in 5.0 innings of work. He struck out seven but walked three and hit another four. Conner Watson (2.0 IP) threw the middle innings, and Jackson Blue earned the win with two innings of scoreless relief in the eighth and ninth.

Foufoulas, Coronado, and Reece Burke all had two hits in the contest. The Dawgs tallied 10 hits in the game – though none went for extra bases. OBU managed six.

Game Two
OBU 3, SWOSU 0

SWOSU got shutout in the nightcap for the first time in 2025. They had just three hits – all singles – with all three of them in the first three innings. The lineup did not collect a hit from the fourth inning on.

The Bison used just enough offense to get the job done. They plated two runs in the second inning on a rare inside the park home run, and had a run walked in with the bases loaded in the sixth.

Despite the loss, pitcher Drew Fifer gave the Dawgs a quality start in his longest outing (5.1 IP) so far this season. Tyler Fortin threw the final five outs in relief. He walked in a run to start his outing but settled in to retire five straight after that.
