Bulldogs Win Game One vs Adams State; Game Two Suspended Due to Darkness

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Baseball claimed game one of the series against Adams State 4-2 before having game two suspended due to darkness on Friday.
 
Game two, currently in extra innings, will resume at 11:30 am on Saturday, prior to the day's regularly scheduled noon doubleheader.  
 
Game One
SWOSU 4, Adams State 2
 
Trailing 1-0 in the sixth, SWOSU finally overtook Adams State by scoring three runs with two outs. Ty Eastwood drove in the tying run with a single, followed by a pinch hit two-RBI single off the bat of Connor Jeffers.
 
SWOSU's scoring concluded an inning later. Campbell Sullivan tripled to leadoff the seventh and was brought in shortly thereafter with an RBI single from Rusty Wortman.
 
The Grizzlies got a run back in the eighth and were threatening for more before Greg Ross entered in relief to get the final out of the inning. He pitched the ninth as well to earn a four-out save.     
 
Philip Sanders (W, 2-0) pitched into the seventh inning and allowed one run to get the win. He struck out four, did not issue a walk, and scattered four hits. Conner Watson, Tyler Fortin, and Ross saw action out of the bullpen. Adams State outhit the Dawgs 9-7 in the game.
 
Eastwood went 2-for-4 at the plate. Reece Burke (1-2) doubled.
 
Game Two
SWOSU 4, Adams State 4 (extra innings)
 
SWOSU got a run in the first inning and another three runs in the third. The Grizzlies scored single runs in the first and second innings before tying the game in the fifth.
 
The game was called due to darkness following the completion of the eighth inning. Adams State will bat in the top of the ninth when play resumes on Saturday.
 
Bodi Wallar finished the game 3-for-4 at the plate. He doubled in the seventh inning and was pinch ran for, so he will not be available when play resumes. Gage Gaunt is also 3-4 in the game with an RBI.
 
Ayden Page pitched 3.2 innings of scoreless relief. Drew Fifer started the game and pitched 3.2 innings himself. Zane Leonard finished the fourth inning for Fifer, before getting into trouble in the fifth.
