WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Men's Basketball completed a season sweep over Southeastern Oklahoma State and finished their four-game homestand undefeated, dominating the entire 40 minutes to win 85-75.
SWOSU (12-11, 9-9 GAC) now controls its own destiny for the conference tournament with four games remaining. The Bulldogs will play the next three games on the road before returning home for the regular season finale against current league-leader Southern Nazarene on Senior Day.
The Bulldogs set the tone early, shooting 63% (17-27) in the first half, including 5-9 from three-point range. Three Bulldogs reached double figures in the first half:
Tobias Roland (13),
Eli Al-Debaran (10), and
Denali Alexander (10). As a group, they shot 10-14 (71.4%). SWOSU also capitalized on free-throw opportunities, going 9-11, while the Savage Storm shot just 3-4.
The Bulldogs took a 48-36 lead into halftime, their highest scoring half of the season.
Although Southeastern won the second half 39-37, the Bulldogs cruised to victory on the strength of their first-half lead. SWOSU used a +11 free-throw disparity in the second half to thwart any potential comeback by the away team. The Storm did cut the lead down to six points with just under 12 minutes to play before SWOSU used a 10-2 run to push the lead back out for good.
For the game, SWOSU shot 28-51 (54.9%) from the field and 6-14 (42.9%) from deep, both season highs. Southeastern went 29-60 (48.3%) and 7-24 (29.2%) from beyond the arc.
Tobias Roland led the way with 23 points, tying his season high.
