Bulldogs Distance Themselves in Second Half against Southwestern Christian

WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Men's Basketball found its rhythm after halftime, using a dominant second-half to defeat Southwestern Christian 84-58 in its final non-conference game of the season on Monday night.

The win pushes SWOSU back to an even 3-3 heading into league play. The Bulldogs open conference action on the road this weekend, traveling to Harding on Thursday (Dec. 4) and Arkansas Tech on Saturday (Dec. 6).

The Dawgs shook off Thanksgiving rust early, holding a 33-27 edge at the half. SCU's hot shooting kept things tight in the opening minutes, as the Eagles made three of their four first-half threes in the first six minutes. Southwestern Christian held a 21-19 lead with just over seven minutes remaining before a 10-0 Bulldog run swung momentum back to SWOSU, one of seven lead changes and five ties in the opening half.

Holding a 48-41 advantage with under 13 minutes to play, the Bulldogs delivered the knockout blow — an 18-3 run that opened the margin and grew the lead to as many as 29 down the stretch.

SWOSU shot 48% in the first half and improved to 57% after the break, while holding SCU to 36% in both halves. The Eagles cooled to just 7-of-29 (24%) from deep following their early makes.

11 Bulldogs scored, led by Elijah Jordan's 17 points — matching his season high — along with eight rebounds. Kray Rogers packed the box score with 16 points, seven rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Ty Frierson and Kayden Carter combined for 21 points, with Carter adding a season-best four assists.

SWOSU converted 15 Eagle turnovers into 21 points and dominated the paint 54-28.
