WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Soccer closed out the regular season with a 2-1 win over Oklahoma Baptist on Saturday in Weatherford.
The Bulldogs struck early when
Chloe Jackson found the top-left corner for her first goal of the year. The opportunity came off a scramble in the box, where
Ruth Vasquez fought through a crowd and poked the ball free to Jackson for the assist.
SWOSU later netted the eventual game-winner off a corner, as the ball fell to the feet of
Kayla Abbott, who finished for her second goal of the season.
The win marked the first time in the last seven matches that the Dawgs scored multiple goals. SWOSU attempted 15 shots with seven on target, while Oklahoma Baptist recorded 20 shots, but only placed six on goal.
With the No. 2 seed already secured in the GAC standings, SWOSU used the opportunity to get 27 players involved in the match.
The Bulldogs now turn their attention to the GAC Tournament. They will face Ouachita Baptist in the semifinal round on Friday at 2 p.m. in Searcy, Arkansas. The winner will meet either Harding or Northwestern Oklahoma State on Sunday in the GAC Championship match.
