WEATHERFORD – SWOSU Women's Basketball couldn't find an offensive rhythm on Saturday evening, falling 63-44 to Northeastern on the second and final day of the GAC/MIAA Crossover.
The 44 points match their second-lowest scoring total from the 2024-25 season, a number they hit twice a year ago. SWOSU won last season's meeting with the RiverHawks 64-55, but Northeastern answered back this time and claimed the rematch to even the recent series.
SWOSU didn't reach a double-digit scoring quarter until the fourth, where an 18-point effort—fueled by full-court pressure—gave the Lady Dawgs a late push as they tried to claw back into the game.
Offense was hard to come by early. The Lady Dawgs made just four shots in the first half and only one in the second quarter, finishing the opening 20 minutes at 17.3% from the field while going 0-8 from three. Northeastern carried an 11-point lead into halftime and never let it shrink. NSU closed the third quarter on a rapid 10-0 run over the final two minutes, stretching the margin to 20 and putting the game out of reach heading into the final frame.
The Lady Dawgs ended the night just 1-of-17 (6%) from the three-point line.
Payten Conde led SWOSU with 12 points on 5-10 shooting, adding three rebounds and two assists.
Elle Papahronis pulled down 12 boards and ended the night just one point short of a double-double.
The Lady Bulldogs remain at home and now turn their attention to Wednesday's matchup with Missouri Southern.
