BETHANY, Okla. – SWOSU Volleyball picked up its fourth straight win, sweeping Southern Nazarene for the second time this season to complete the regular-season sweep of the Crimson Storm.
With the victory, the Bulldogs have now defeated SNU eight straight times and officially clinched a berth in the GAC Championship Tournament. SWOSU has now qualified for all 15 GAC tournaments since the league's inception in 2011.
The Dawgs controlled the match from start to finish, leading wire-to-wire in all three sets. A quick 5-1 start in the opener set the tone, as SWOSU cruised to a 25-13 win while holding SNU to .000 hitting with nine attack errors. Despite it being their lowest hitting percentage of the match (.300), the Bulldogs' defense made the difference early.
The second set proved the most competitive on the scoreboard, but an early 11-2 run gave SWOSU all the cushion it needed on the way to a 25-18 victory. The third followed a similar pattern — after leading 9-6, the Dawgs closed the match with a dominant 16-7 run to secure their fourth consecutive sweep.
SWOSU hit .343 in the match — their second-highest percentage of the season, trailing only their home performance against Southern Nazarene when they hit .348. The Bulldogs committed just eight attack errors, tying their lowest mark of the year. Meanwhile, the Crimson Storm were limited to a .087 team hitting percentage.
Paris Patterson paced the Bulldogs with 11 kills on .385 hitting, while
Jenna Houk added nine kills on .381.
Jada Permenter anchored the back row with 17 digs, and setter
Mackenzie Sims recorded her fourth straight match with 30-plus assists, finishing with 32.
SWOSU (11-13, 9-3 GAC) sits inside the conference's top four with two weeks remaining in the regular season. The Bulldogs return home Tuesday to face Oklahoma Baptist at 6:00 p.m. inside the Pioneer Event Center, looking to avenge an early-season loss to the Bison.
