SWOSU Football (4-4, 4-4 GAC) makes their longest trip of the year when they travel to Monticello for their final Arkansas trip of the 2025 campaign.

The Bulldogs have earned back-to-back wins by at least 24 points (SNU and ECU) for the first time since 2015 and now look to win their first game in the Natural State since 2018. A win would give the Dawgs their fifth win — the most in a season since 2016.

The Dawgs' offense has been humming over the last six weeks. In five of the last six games, the Bulldogs have scored at least 30 points — a feat that hasn't happened in the program's Division II era. Since making the move in 1997, SWOSU has reached the 30-point mark in five or more games in a season only five times.

Last week against ECU (5-3, 5-3 GAC), the Dawgs put up a season-high 38 points for the second time this season (Okla. Baptist) behind a monster performance from wide receiver Baylor Nash. He recorded 146 receiving yards on six receptions with three touchdowns, tying SWOSU's Division II single-game record for touchdown recpeptions. The 146 yards are the second-most by any GAC player this season, while Nash became the first in the conference this season to catch three touchdowns in a single game.

On the defensive side of the ball last week, SWOSU was able to limit ECU's passing offense to just 11-of-30 for 44 yards outside of two long touchdown passes — their only scores of the game. The Dawgs also collected an interception while holding ECU to just 64 yards rushing, their second-lowest output of the season.

Arkansas-Monticello holds a narrow 7-6 edge over the Bulldogs all-time and has won the last two meetings. Home field advantage has played a major role in the series, with the home team going 11-2 overall. The Dawgs are 1-6 on the road in those matchups.

As a team on the offensive side, the Dawgs are averaging 24.5 points per game — their highest mark in a season since 2022. Red Martel has been a catalyst in the rushing attack. He currently ranks in the top 10 in SWOSU D2 single-season history in both average yards per rush (6.1) and rushing yards per game (84.1). Martel added 68 rushing yards last week against SNU and earned his third touchdown of the year. He trails only a pair of Harding backs for the top spot in the GAC rushing standings.

MJ Rivers manages the offense, averaging 132.8 passing yards per game with 14 touchdowns to just three interceptions. He's also been productive on the ground, averaging 42.3 rushing yards per game with two touchdowns. Last week, he went 13-of-15 for 227 yards through the air with four touchdowns — both season highs.

Nash leads the receiving group with 18 receptions for 338 yards and four touchdowns, he was also named the GAC Offensive Player of the Week after lasts weeks performance, the first wide receiver from SWOSU to receive the honor since JR Omigie in 2018. Isaac Norris backs him up with 20 catches for 230 yards and three touchdowns, including one last week. Elijah Reed has the most receptions on the team with 22, adding 156 yards and three scores.

The defense has held its last three opponents to 14 points or fewer for the first time since the 2000 season. SWOSU is allowing 341.8 yards per game, the fourth-best mark in the conference. Through the air, the Dawgs give up just 159.9 yards per game — fifth in the GAC and 16th nationally.

Zack Roberts leads the Bulldogs with 49 tackles, 25 of them solo. He's also recorded two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown. Matthew Myles owns a team-high 6.5 tackles for loss, while Madox Sekyere leads the way with 2.5 sacks.

Arkansas-Monticello (2-6, 2-6 GAC) is coming off a 55-0 loss to No. 2 Harding. The Weevils boast the 10th-ranked offense in the GAC, averaging just 15.3 points per game, while allowing 35 points on defense — ranking 11th in the conference. They have dropped three straight games by an average margin of 31 points and have scored over 20 points in only two contests this season. UAM also has the worst rushing defense in the GAC, giving up 264.5 yards per game — a weakness that could play well into SWOSU's ground attack.
