Blue Springs, Mo. – SWOSU Women's Golf had a top two individual finisher at the Central Region Fall Preview and went on to finish 12th as a team in the first tournament of the fall season.
Junior
Freya Sala tied for second place with a score of two-over par throughout the two-day event.
Augustana (SD) won the tournament for the second straight year, beating out Missouri Southern by one stroke to finish at +16 as a team. Henderson State's Felisa Sajulga took home the individual win, with a birdy on hole 18 to break a four-way tie.
Sala, who placed T-20 at last year's event, moved up into the top two with a one over par finish. In round one she was in second place with a round of 71 (-1) and backed that performance up with a 74 (+2) to put her into a tie for first as she went to the clubhouse, but would eventually get overtaken by Sajulga.
Drew Dodgion finished with a score of (+9) for the tournament and finished inside the top 30 for the competition. She accumulated two birdies in her first round.
Ashlyn Acosta (+16) and
Lucia Rivas (+19) both finished their second-rounds with a score at, or below, their first.
For
London Wilson, it was her first time competing for the Lady Dawgs. She carded a 79 (+7) for her second round and finished at (+17).
Lily Stanton (+15) and
Faustina Pergolini (+19) competed as individuals for SWOSU where Stanton in the first round carded a 75 (+3).
SWOSU now looks forward to the NSU Women's Classic hosted by Northeastern State in Muskogee, Okla. Held on September 9-10.
