COLBY, Kan. – Cheyenne VandeStouwe continued her hot streak to start the season with a win in Goat Tying while Heston Harrison won the short round with an 80-point ride in Saddle Bronc, highlighting SWOSU's pair of fourth place finishes at the Colby Rodeo over the weekend.
 
Fresh off an All-Around title at K-State last week with strong performances in Breakaway and Goat Tying, VandeStouwe keeps momentum with her latest showing in Goat Tying. With times of 8.3- and 7.1-seconds last week, she clocked a 7-flat to win the long round and an 8.5 in the short go at Colby.
 
Harrison rode both broncs he was assigned. His event began with a 67-point ride for the long round, good for third, before the round win on Saturday. The 80-points represents the sophomore's best score wearing a SWOSU vest.
 
Brody McAbee, with a 70, scored the highest of any rider in the Saddle Bronc's long round. He won the long round before a zero in the short round pushed him back to eighth overall.

Chenoa VandeStouwe, sat third in Goat Tying with a 7.8 before a 9.8 dropped her back to 10th. In Barrel Racing, Carli Stuva turned in a sixth-place overall finish with sixth and fifth-place placings in her two rounds. Six SWOSU cowgirls qualified for the short round in total.
  
Last season, the men's team finished fourth or better in two rodeos out of 10. With two complete in 2024-25, they've already matched that mark with back-to-back finishes of fourth.
 
SWOSU will take a break this week before returning to action September 26-28 at the Southeastern Oklahoma State Rodeo in Durant. Three rodeos remain on the fall schedule, which will conclude November 2.
