MUSKOGEE, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Golf was able to notch the first top five finish of the fall season at the NSU Women's Classic.
Rogers State (+5) came away with the win after shooting even par round as a team in the first round. Nine strokes back from RSU was Arkansas-Fort Smith who took home second.
Drew Dodgion narrowly missed the top 10 by a single stroke but finished with a strong +3 after both rounds. Dodgion pushed hard in the final stretch, writing down three birdies on the last four holes to make her SWOSU's top golfer of the tournament.
Freya Sala was able to secure another top 15 finish this week at +4. In her first round she shot an impressive 72 (+1), which included two birdies on the front nine to propel her to another great showing.
Ashlyn Acosta provided the Lady Dawgs with a great first round shooting a 72 (+1). Her round one ended at one over thanks to a back nine with a birdie on hole 11 and an eagle on hole 15 – the only Lady Bulldog eagle of the tournament. Acosta would finish (+11) after an 81 (+10) on day two.
London Wilson (T-49) and
Lily Stanton (T-61) rounded out the team. Both improved their scores by multiple strokes between the first and second rounds.
The Lady Dawgs will be back in action at their home course on October 3rd when they host The Perkins Cup at Prairie West G.C. in Weatherford.
