HAYS, Kan. – For a fourth time this season and a second consecutive weekend, the SWOSU Women's Rodeo team claimed the top spot after winning the Fort Hays State Rodeo held April 18-20.  
 
The win extends the team's lead in the Central Plains Region over Panhandle State with one rodeo remaining in the regular season circuit.
 
Hadley Tate swept Barrel Racing at FHSU by taking first in both rounds with times of 17.61 and 17.22 seconds. Tate is third in the region in the event, right behind teammate Libby Berger in second. Berger had an off weekend and did not advance to the short round. Braylee Ward was fourth in both rounds with near identical times and finished fourth in the average.  
 
Cheyenne VandeStouwe became SWOSU's seventh different women's competitor to win the average in an event this season when she earned a buckle in Goat Tying. VandeStouwe, ranked second in the region, won the long round with an 8.2 second time before snagging third in the short go with an 8.5. She adds to her resume after also winning the All-Around title at Colby's rodeo last fall.
 
Meanwhile the men's team had three finishes inside the top-5 in the long round and went on to finish ninth.
 
Having competed the past two weekends, that trend continues for both teams with one final stop at the Panhandle State Rodeo coming up this weekend in Guymon, Oklahoma. Following the conclusion of that, the teams will know who qualifies for the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) in June.
