DURANT, Okla. – SWOSU Softball dropped both ends of Saturday's conference doubleheader against Southeastern, snapping their four-game win streak in the process. The Bulldogs got edged late in the day's first game before suffering a run-rule in the series finale.
The series result pushes SWOSU to 7-10 overall with a 4-2 mark in GAC play. They'll return home next weekend to host East Central.
Game One – Southeastern 5, SWOSU 4
Katie Boline drove in SWOSU's first three runs of the game, an RBI triple in the first inning and a two RBI double in the fourth, but the Dawgs allowed the go-ahead run in the sixth inning and fell 5-4.
Boline's hits had the Bulldogs leading 1-0 and 3-2 before Southeastern regained the lead. Chesnie Hewitt's RBI double in the fifth tied the score at 4-4, but the Savage Storm eventually small-balled a leadoff walk around to score in the sixth.
Courtney Hill (L, 1-3) suffered the loss in the circle. She struck out two and walked six.
SWOSU stranded 14 runners on base in the contest – at least one in every inning.
Game Two – Southeastern 8, SWOSU 0 (5 inn.)
Eight first inning runs in the finale proved to be the difference maker. The Savage Storm sent 13 to bat in the opening frame and took advantage of four walks while adding another six hits to deal the damage.
Blaire Gentry entered in relief of Lauren Bratcher in the circle in the first inning with the bases loaded and trailing 2-0. The Savage Storm had five hits off Gentry to plate more runs before the inning finally ended.
From there, Gentry settled in and allowed just one hit the remainder of the game, but the damage was done.
Offensively, SWOSU tallied just two hits.
